SMEC ShaPoLi System

In recent times, the delivery times for New ShaPoli systems have been expedited. Consequently, we are now in a position to provide the ShaPoli system, utilizing the existing shaft power meter. This innovative approach enables us to gather data from any shaft power source without the need for manufacturer support. SMEC's ShaPoLi Shaft Power Limitation represents a cost-effective measuring and monitoring solution with numerous advantages over other power limitation systems, such as engine power limitation (EPL).
Our primary objective is to offer a control unit that operates independently of the engine automation. The system continually monitors and displays the actual shaft power, and any override of the shaft power limitation is visually indicated on the bridge. In such cases, it becomes the responsibility of the ship's master or the officer in charge of the navigational watch (OICNW) to manually reduce the power to ensure compliance with the prescribed limits. If, for any reason, unlimited power is required, the event is meticulously logged in a secure format.
We achieve this by utilizing existing shaft power meter data, passing it through specialized converters, and connecting it to our innovative ShaPoli extension. Furthermore, we incorporate essential navigational data, such as GPS position and GPS speed, through a multiplexer converter. The primary control panel is equipped with a 19-inch touch screen, serving as the bridge display. This display provides real-time load point indication, and in the event of an overload, it triggers an alarm that requires active acknowledgment. All event logging follows established regulations and can be overridden when necessary. This configuration ensures constant access to the full engine power, especially in emergency situations, thereby enhancing safety and operational flexibility.
